Thoughtful, compassionate support rooted in understanding

Behavioral health–focused dog training in Oakland and the East Bay.

East Bay Behavioral Health for Dogs exists to support dogs in all stages of life, and the humans who care for them. This work centers on understanding behavior, strengthening relationships, and helping families feel confident meeting both their needs and their dog’s needs over time.

Meet Camille

Camille Koué is a CPDT-KA certified trainer who specializes in helping humans support their dogs in all stages of life. She grew up in Oakland surrounded by a wide variety of animal companions. She spent six years living in Washington, DC to attend college and graduate school, earning a master’s degree in Communication, Culture and Technology from Georgetown University.

After returning to the Bay Area, Camille began volunteering with the East Bay SPCA in animal care and later joined the Behavior and Training volunteer corps. Through this work, she gained hands-on experience supporting dogs of all shapes and sizes with complex behavioral needs and working closely with the humans caring for them.

A pivotal influence in Camille’s path was her family dog, Joey, a black Lab mix who struggled with extreme fear and anxiety. Seeing firsthand how positive reinforcement and behavior modification improved Joey’s quality of life had a profound impact and ultimately led Camille to pursue professional certification so she could offer that same support to others.

Camille loves educating people on dog behavior, knowledge that she thinks is the cornerstone of all successful human-K9 relationships. Her goal is to teach the education and skills to both humans and dogs that is necessary for them to live together happily, with a strong foundation of trust and respect, for the entire lifespan of their relationship.

Training philosophy

Camille is a positive reinforcement trainer, meaning training focuses on clarity, learning, and trust rather than punishment or intimidation. This approach is supported by current research in animal behavior science and prioritizes emotional safety for both dogs and humans.

Training is collaborative and judgment-free. There is no shame for past experiences or confusion, and no expectation that humans arrive already knowing what to do. Behavior change involves curiosity, observation, and problem-solving together.

Camille's goal is to help dogs gain the confidence and coping skills they need to successfully navigate our human-centric world, and to provide the education and skills necessary for dog owners to feel confident in implementing behavior modification, and meeting their dog's needs, throughout their lives together.

Behavioral health is not just about solving a specific problem, it is about holistic wellbeing. My goal is to help you and your dog become a more connected and emotionally in-sync team. When your dog needs support, you should be the first person they turn to. When your dog knows that you are a kind and trustworthy partner, you are able to confidently rely on them to consistently respond to you. Through education and training support, you can become more in tune with your dog's needs and how you can meet those needs as they change over time.
